NHL News: Matchups, Potential Winners and the Points Race

The National Hockey League is made up of the best athletes in the world. Each season's games are played after qualifying rounds. Each game is marked by something special. For example:

Three Moments Worth Marking

  • Alexander Ovechkin scored his 812th NHL goal.
  • Connor McDavid became the NHL's all-time leader in points.
  • Andrei Vasilevskiy set an NHL record for the most wins by a goaltender in the first 400 games.

The February Schedule

The schedule of tournaments to be held this February is already known.

The teams that will face off in them are:

  • New York Islanders/Tampa Bay Lightning
  • Boston Bruins/Montreal Canadiens
  • Washington Capitals/Carolina Hurricanes
  • Detroit Red Wings/Florida Panthers
  • Chicago Blackhawks/Pittsburgh Penguins
  • Nashville Predators/Dallas Stars
  • Colorado Avalanche/St. Louis Blues
  • Winnipeg Jets/Minnesota Wild
  • Anaheim Ducks/Los Angeles Kings
  • Edmonton Oilers/Calgary Flames

Potential Winners

The Points Race

The 2023-2024 NHL season isn't over yet, so it's hard to say who will be the points leader.

However, here are a few players who can claim that title:

  • Connor McDavid: McDavid is the current NHL points leader. He has been one of the best players in the league for several years in a row.
  • Auston Matthews: Matthews is one of the youngest and most talented players in the NHL. He has already won the Maurice Richard Trophy twice as the league's top sniper.
  • Nathan MacKinnon: MacKinnon is one of the most dominant players in the NHL. He has already won the Hart Trophy twice as the league's most valuable player.
  • Sidney Crosby is one of the most experienced and successful players in the NHL. He has already won the Stanley Cup three times and twice won the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL's points leader.
  • Auston Matthaeus is one of the youngest and most talented players in the NHL. He has already won the Maurice Richard Trophy twice as the league's top sniper.
