How we handle numbers, sources and corrections.
Numbers
A hockey article can go wrong in one line: one invented figure and the reader stops trusting the rest. Our rule is simple. If a number is not published somewhere a reader can check, we describe the situation without it — a trend, a direction, a comparison in kind rather than in digits.
The checklist before publishing
- Is every figure traceable to a named public source?
- Is every opinion clearly marked as opinion?
- Are we describing a mechanism rather than promising an outcome?
- Would we be comfortable if a club’s press officer read it?
Readers under the age of majority
This site is written for adult readers. Anything that resembles gambling promotion, prediction selling or “systems” is out of scope, permanently, no matter how well it would perform.
If you spot a problem
Write in. Include the page and the sentence. We would rather correct an article the same week than defend it for a year.
Read it for the hockey. This journal explains how the sport works; it does not predict results and does not sell anything. Where a number is not publicly checkable we say so instead of inventing one.
